Chime’s customer-friendly deposit rules are perfect for those who need to access their funds immediately. Even with checks, Chime will credit the correct money to your account ahead of the prescribed waiting time.

Here is how long Chime takes to deposit checks in your account.

How Long Does Chime Take To Deposit A Check?

Once received by Chime, a check will be credited to your account on the next business day. The same setup applies to checks submitted on a weekend or a federal holiday. If the check is approved within the cut-off time (usually 5 p.m. EST), you may even receive it on the same day.

Check deposits are processed within one to three days from the date the transfer was initiated by the originating bank. The funds will be available the same day Chime receives and credits the money to your account.

Any delay is likely due to the transfer time frames by the originating bank.

Checks are cleared depending on the amount and the payor. Those with small amounts are cleared faster and should be available to you sooner.

Chime will notify you when your funds will be available via the app. You may also check the transaction using the Chime website.

If you are going to use the mobile check deposit feature in the Chime app, the deposit will appear under pending transactions.

You should note that only users utilizing Chime as a primary bank can use mobile check deposits. You should also have an active direct deposit coming in to enjoy this feature.

Does The First Check Deposit Take Longer?

No. As long as you have previously received a direct deposit in your Chime account, you should receive your first check without delay.

Chime accounts that are over 30 days active should also have no trouble receiving funds.

Even if it is your first time to be credited a check deposit, you will receive it within the prescribed schedule by Chime.

That being said, checks can be held for up to seven business days for several reasons.

For instance, Chime may take a while longer to process the check if you are depositing a large amount in a single day. These are usually check deposits that are more than $5,000.

In such cases, Chime will credit a portion of the money to your account after one business day. The rest will arrive in the ensuing days.

You may also experience delays in receiving funds if your account has repeated overdrafts in the past six months. Chime may also hold your check if they believe that it will not be paid, for whatever reason.

No matter, Chime will reach out to you if they will hold your check for an extended time so you should always keep your contact information updated.

What Time Does A Chime Mobile Deposit Hit?

Chime mobile check deposits made before the cut-off time of 5 p.m. EST may hit your account on the same day, most likely late at night. For those deposited after the cut-off time, the funds should be available at 9 a.m. the next business day.

Small checks and government checks are usually cleared after only one business day. The same applies to US Treasury checks. For other checks, you may need to wait for two business days before the funds get credited to your Chime account.

If you are making a personal check deposit, you can expect it to be cleared after three business days. You should have access to the funds the moment Chime receives the money from the originating bank.

For larger checks, clearance should take three days. However, you can access some of the money earlier, usually the next business day.

For instance, you deposited a check with an amount of more than $200 on Monday. The $200 should be available at 9 a.m. EST on Tuesday, if not earlier. The rest of the money should be credited to your account by Wednesday at 9 a.m. EST.

As with other financial institutions, check amounts can affect the processing time and fund availability.

If Chime delays crediting your funds, they will notify you and inform you about the time of your deposit and when you can expect it on your account.

These should be no later than nine business days.

You should also take note of the check deposit limit that Chime imposes. For U.S. Treasury checks, the limit is $5,000 per deposit. You can also make up to three mobile deposits every 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the maximum amount per deposit for non-US Treasury checks is $2,000. Once you reach the cap, you will have to visit any authorized retail locations to make check deposits.

Are Chime Mobile Deposits Instant?

Chime mobile deposits are not always instant. If you choose to transfer funds to Chime via the direct deposit method, then you can access your money straight away.

There are different ways to send money to your Chime account. Direct deposit is the easiest and quickest way among your options.

You only need to provide your account and routing numbers to the person sending you the funds, like your employer or payroll provider.

With direct deposit, the money should be in your account as soon as Chime receives it.

When Does The Unemployment Deposit Hit On Chime?

Unemployment deposits will hit your Chime account within two business days after your claim has been approved. Deposits can be credited to your account as early as 9 a.m. EST up to late at night.

When you sign up for unemployment benefits, your state will allow you to decide how to receive the funds. One method is to send them to your Chime account via direct deposit.

Chime does not hold direct deposits, so you can access the money as soon as it hits Chime. Typically, this is at 9 a.m. on a regular business day, Monday to Friday.

The timing depends entirely on when the transfer is initiated by the originating bank. If you do not see the deposit on your account, this only means that Chime has yet to receive it.

For unemployment deposits that are processed on a weekend or a federal holiday, the funds should be available on the next business day.
